Meath County Council
Background
Meath County Council (Meath Coco) is one of the multiple councils in the local authority network in Ireland. When it came to looking for a solution for having better control over their recruitment function, they looked for an online solution. After speaking with a team in the Local Enterprise Office about their solution to their grant management, the HR function decided to look into Submit.com as a solution.

Prior to coming on board with Submit.com, the Meath Coco recruitment function had a very laborious process of accepting applications for their available vacancies. They would start with an advertisement accompanied by a Word template which the candidate would then need to fill out and return via email to the department. This process led to a number of issues such as formatting problems, applicants not adhering to deadline dates as well as being incredibly time-consuming for the team to go through applications.

Benefits using Submit
Since implementing their workflow on Submit.com, Meath Coco’s HR function has seen several benefits within their administrative team. Once such benefit they highlighted is the level of control that they now have on their vacancy processes.
“Submit.com enables us for forward planning by showing the number of complete and draft applications for each competition. We can look at the percentage complete on the drafts and anticipate the number of last-minute entries we would have.”
Traditionally when it came to the shortlisting process, the administrative team would have printed out all applications for current vacancies and given those to their interview board members to review. However, since adopting an online management platform, Meath Coco has highlighted that with the help of the external reviewer roles and the folder functionality they now can conduct their shortlisting within the platform with a quick turnaround time.
With that said, another aspect of the platform, the team highlighted as being a time saver was the ability to redact information in the folders such as contact details for data protection reasons. Prior to the online system, contact information would have been redacted on the printouts by hand.
The reporting function within the system was named as another impactful benefit for the team as they would be able to pull out any necessary reports for senior management.
“We can run a report and see special requirements such as a full license, quickly which is something we would have easily missed with the old word document system.”
Future with Submit.com
Meath Coco HR have been on a learning curve since they’ve begun using the Submit platform. With each competition they run, the workflow for the application changes and adapts with the HR function’s needs. Their team and process have come in leaps and bounds.
