The National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) has been granted $578,416.92 from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to train and support current and future HUD-Certified housing counselors. This significant grant will enable NCRC to expand its training programs, further bolstering community assistance.

NCRC’s National Training Academy (NTA) provides online and in-person training, webinars, and technical assistance to organizations focused on increasing local access to credit, capital, and affordable homeownership. NTA served over 5,000 training registrations in 2023, engaging practitioners, managers, and executives. Courses offered include HUD Exam Preparation, Disaster Management, Foreclosure and Eviction Prevention, Nonprofit leadership, and more.

NCRC’s Housing Counseling Network (HCN) offers operational oversight, technical assistance, and support to local housing counseling agencies nationwide. HCN provides compliance monitoring and training opportunities to all HCN members. In 2023, HCN assisted 18,329 families, offering services such as eviction prevention, homeownership achievements, foreclosure prevention, and information empowerment. NCRC’s impact is substantial, with 205 households avoiding eviction through rental counseling and 755 households transitioning into homeownership after pre-purchase/homebuying counseling in 2023. HCN prevented foreclosure for 540 households, preserving homes and financial stability. In 2023, 2,886 households received crucial information on fair housing, fair lending, and accessibility rights, promoting equitable access to housing opportunities. The grant will significantly enhance NCRC’s ability to train and educate housing counselors, ultimately benefiting communities across the country.
